Healthy "Chunky Monkey" Banana Ice Cream in 3 Easy Steps

Banana Ice cream.png

Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey ice cream has been one of my favorites for years, but unfortunately, not very good for you.  It has 290 calories and 18 grams of fat per 4 oz. serving.

Here is fantastic alternative and it only takes 5 minutes and has approximately 163 calories and 3.8 grams of fat per 4-5 oz. serving.

Gather the following ingredients:
2 sliced and frozen bananas (frozen at least 8 hours)
1/4 tsp of cinnamon
2-4 TBSP of skim milk
1 tsp of unsweetened cocoa powder
Dark chocolate chips and chopped walnuts for topping (*I am a huge fan of Ghirardelli chocolate but any unsweetened cocoa or dark chocolate chips will work.)
Makes 2 (4-5 oz.) servings

Slice up 2 bananas and freeze overnight or at least 8 hours.
Once frozen, place the bananas in a food processor.  Process for 1 minute or so, until the bananas look like little peas.  Then add 3-4 TBSP of milk (or 1-2 TBSP per banana) and 1/4 tsp of cinnamon.  Process until smooth. 60-90 seconds.  If you would prefer chocolate ice cream add 1 tsp of unsweetened chocolate when you add the cinnamon.  Divide evenly into 2 cups and top with some dark chocolate chips and walnut pieces.  Mix and enjoy.
